  Living Safely with Gas   

Natural Gas

The natural gas detector is specially designed for all household situations. In particular where appliances may be left unattended or there is a risk of gas flames blowing out or being forgotten to be lit. It is mainly used for gas cookers but also can be used to protect fires and other gas appliances (e.g. for Care in the Community).

The Detector (with optional easy-fit valve) provides two key functions:

• it detects leaks long before the gas reaches unsafe levels
• it actively prevents danger by shutting off the gas supply to the appliance

A remote sensor can be connected to the detector to increase the coverage of the unit.
The detector can also trigger remote alarms so that remote monitoring stations can be made aware of the gas detector triggering.

Active protection of the gas appliance is simple with our new easy-fit gas valve (patent applied for). This valve has standard bayonet fittings which enable easy inline connection to existing appliances. See here for more details on installation.

Other detectors are available to deal with other flammable gases such as LPG (Liquid petroleum gas) such as butane and propane.

Note that the detector will detect both gas escapes caused by human misuse and leaks from equipment or supply failure.
All occurrences of alarm should be assessed by a competent person and the appropriate authorities (such as Transco) called if a human error is not definitely identified as the cause.
